Sean and Tashil selected for national angling team

The nationals will be held at Mossel Bay in January.

THE KwaZulu-Natal Coastal Anglers’ Union (KZNCAU) is proud to announce the first Under-16 school league team selected to represent the angling union at the juniors’ nationals being held at Mossel Bay in January. The anglers are Saveshan Chetty (15), Jared Naidoo (15), Sean Bennett (14, from Port Edward), Navolen Chetty (13) and Tashil Moodley (13, from Port Edward) who were selected to take part in this inaugural national tournament.

These selected anglers were part of the first KZNCAU transformation development initiative which was spearheaded by KZNCAU development officer Sheik Fazil, assisted by a team of volunteers, who sacrificed countless hours of family and personal time to implement the programme.

“The initiative is geared towards uplifting and empowering previously disadvantaged individuals and propelling them to achieving provincial and national honours,” said team manager, Sundesh Pursad.

The selected anglers have sacrificed many long hours honing their skills and can now look forward to competing with some of the finest anglers at union competitions.

“In an era where most youngsters are caught up in the digital revolution, it’s refreshing that these dedicated youngsters have chosen to embrace the great outdoors, with the sandy shores as their playground. It’s only fitting that their accomplishment be recognised,” said Mr Pursad.

The team is also seeking sponsorships towards their tournament costs and should any businesses or individuals be interested in assisting, please contact team manager Sundesh Pursad at 082 8800903 or assistant manager Noel Nadasen at noelnadasen21@gmail.com.
