Golfers play for a worthy cause

Close to R140 000 was raised for the Els for Autism organisation.

CLOSE to R140 000 was raised at the Els for Autism golf day at San Lameer last Wednesday. One hundred and four players took part in the event. The Els for Autism Foundation was established in 2009 by Ernie and Liezl Els to focus on the issue of autism.

The Els son Ben is profoundly impacted by the disorder which affects one in 68 children in the US.

For the last four years the world class pro golfer and his wife have devoted their efforts to a catalytic philanthropic project – The Els Centre of Excellence. Local golfers, Ashoo Singh and Ganas Munsami were the overall winners on 47. In this tournament a team’s fund-raising ability was valued as much as its performance on the golf course.
