KINGFISHER BOWLING ASSOCIATION

ALTHOUGH the last league games were a bit of a washout, the women managed to play some games.

In the women’s first league, AMBC ‘A’ were outright winners by a huge margin. Well done.

The second league was won by The Bell ‘A’ and the third league was a very different scoreline with Margate Country Club’s ‘B’ side beating AMBC’s ‘C’ side on shot aggregate.

Banners Rest won the men’s fours league. The other men’s league sides will resume next year.

Senzo van Niekerk from The Bell won the women’s open interdistrict draw for the Christmas hamper raffle at MCC last Friday.

The executive wishes everyone a very happy Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous new year.

BANNERS REST

AUBREY and Penny Hood and Jenny Rennie won the SuperSpar Port Edward 2-bowl mixed trips last Wednesday. Brian and Pam Cole-Cook and Vi Pells were runners-up.

Second session went to Steve Rennie, Hazel Delaney and Gino Alilovic and 50/50 to Leone Bloem.

Well done to the men’s fours for winning the KBA Saturday league.

Last sponsored competition of the year is the Peter Bennett and Golden Moon Spur mixed pairs 2-4-2 next Wednesday (28th).

LAST Friday’s Manaba KwikSpar two bowl trips was won by Pam Cole-Cook, Vi Pells and Leoni Booth (4+22).

Kobie Stander, Dora Vosloo and Winnie Hess were runners-up on 4+13.

Session went to Ellen Cawker, Ann Waugh and Yvonne Bausek.

The Mugg and Bean open 2-4-2 competition will be held tomorrow (23rd) at 2pm.

Office duty from December 26: Lance Marshall. Tea duty – Franci Phillpott and Yvonne James.

THE Shelly Beach SuperSpar open trips was won by Clive Edmundson, Marieclaire Vernier and Bill Eccles (4+21).

Runners-up were Barry Christie, Norman Isherwood and Ivan Hosken (2+6).

Children and grandchildren are invited to roll a bowl in casual gear and/or barefoot at the family fun bowls afternoon tomorrow (23rd).

MUNSTER

WINNERS of last Friday’s Cow Shed men’s nominated pairs were Tommie Dry and Martiens Zietsman.

Jokkie van Buuren and Mike Gower came second, second session to Sergio Ruperto and Anthony Card and board to Phil Longden.

Helen Cock, Joan Fowler, Rick Harding, Lynn Meek, Lesley Lawson, Dave Humphreys, Julie Greaves, Jenny Barr and three visitors won last Saturday’s Christmas hamper. Thanks to all who contributed. Family and friends are welcome at the Boxing Day (26th) sponsored social bowls at 2 for 2.30pm. R10 green fees. Bring leftover food for social nibbles after the game.

THE club welcomed sponsor Warwick Wealth to the annual champagne breakfast last Friday. Representatives Stuart Milligan and Stuart McMurtie were thanked for their generous support.

Warwick Wealth is a major sponsor of bowls in South Africa. The format of the morning was 10 ends, with a break for breakfast, followed by another six ends.

John Bloch, Caroline Harris and Nico de Jong won on +18 and runners-up were Brian and Jenny Rawlins and Annette Suther on +9.

The most touchers-on was shared by Brian Rawlins and Don Wiid (+5) and the best dressed team was Jess and Cecilia Verster and Bettie Greyling.

CONGRATULATIONS to Werrner Mody and Ellen Gould for scoring a perfect eight in the South Coast Herald 2-4-2 last week.

The Serene Care 3-2-1 played last Sunday was won by Geoff Kelleher, Jane Massam and Cosmos Gumede with Brian Marriott, Molly Williams and Bob Moroney coming second.

Mike King Trevor Main and Jenny de Bruin came third.

The Dr Daryl D’Arcy men’s trips will be played today (22nd).

THE BELL

Congratulations to the 2016 men’s and women’s pairs champions John Sutton and Don Fowler.

Alan Tyers, Ken Hills, Hazel Hosken and Dawn Oehley came third and Nelia Reed and Yvonne Anderson fourth.

Second prize went to Bez and Bubbles Bezuidenhout, assisted by Hennie van Jaaarsveld.

The next competition is the drawn games sponsored by the Bourman Group next Friday. Last Sunday the club arranged games of golf on the green.

There were approximately 60 players, 9 were played across the green then up and down the green.

The winner was Norman Aiston. Bez Bezuidenhout came second and Jan Oosthuizen third.
