Juniors scoop five gold medals
Family memberships are being offered at a greatly reduced annual rate.
WONDERFUL results obtained by Ugu tennis juniors in the provincial Salga tournament held at the Uvongo Tennis Club attest to the rich vein of talent there is.
In a scheme to reinforce the ranks of those who took part in the tournament, the club continues to offer professional coaching every Saturday morning from 11am to 12.30pm, which will recommence January 21, 2017.
At the first meeting, certificates will be presented to all juniors who took part in the 2016 programme.
A team drawn from the greater Ugu district scooped five of the eighteen medals at the Salga provincial tournament held at the club.
Gold medals were won in the boys’ U12 and U20 sections, silver in the girls’ U12 and U16 sections and a bronze in the girls’ U20 category.
In a move to involve parents of junior players who presented themselves for professional coaching on Saturday mornings, family memberships have been offered at a greatly reduced annual rate. This enables parents to play with their children at no additional cost whenever club courts are available. Eleven sets of parents have already taken up the offer.
The annual veterans’ tournament, run under the auspices of provincial authorities, will take place at the club during October when the crème de la crème of the veterans’ movement will enrol for battle.
