Fox is new chairman at Southbroom Golf Club
There have been sweeping changes to the committee.
JOHN Fox is the new chairman at Southbroom Golf Club, taking over from the outgoing Joy Crutchfield.
Vic Pretorius is president, filling the position vacated by George Haswell.
Gerald Fitzgerald is the captain, taking over from Derrik Matthew, while Don Osbourn is the vice-captain, in Gary Purtell’s place.
Other committee members are Russel Mackenzie, Phil Verwey and Cleve Walker.
In competition golf at Southbroom last Wednesday, the winners were Lorraine Cook, Heleen Hissey, Jean Corfe and Julie Walker on 94 points.
They were followed by Helen Strong, Sandy Luus, Jeanette Peyios and Jeanne Powell on 92 points.
Men’s comp was won on 97 points by Pip Kemm, Pippie Kemm, Ernst Kemm and Anton Verster.
Runners-up were Derrik Matthew, Bruce Matthew, John Neaves and Don Osbourn on 96 points, one ahead of Cliff Peterson, Uri Swanepoel, Darryn Surtees and Mark Surtees.
Saturday’s game was washed out for the women.
The men’s comp was won by Doug Butcher and Chris Visser on 49 points, edging out Gordon Moody and Steven Moody on 48 points.
