Lace up your takkies to support TB awareness

KwaZulu-Natal parkruns will be part of a provincial health initiative.

ORGANISERS of the Uvongo parkrun and the other parkruns throughout KwaZulu-Natal expect to see numbers of entrants grow this week as the provincial health department is planning to use these free 5km runs as vehicles to promote tuberculosis awareness.

The weekly timed parkruns are held at different locations around the world every Saturday at 8am and the health department is asking its staff members, their families and their friends to take part in the KwaZulu-Natal ones this Saturday, March 25, in support of World TB Day.

Supporters of World TB Day are asked to try and wear a T-shirt or cap with a TB awareness message.

The Uvongo parkruns start at St Michael’s beach every Saturday at 8am and organisers are hoping to welcome many newcomers in support of the TB awareness initiative.

Registration is free. Go to www.parkrun.co.za. After you have registered you will receive your unique bar code which you should present at the end of the run.
