Honours roll in for Bates and Isuzu
The South Coast dealership has much to be proud of.
BATES GM and Isuzu Trucks on the South Coast have reaped more awards and rewards for 2016, following on its success of previous years.
This comes at around about the same time that the Opel Astra was named the Wesbank South African Guild of Motoring Journalists’ Car of the Year.
For a start, the dealership, based in Shelly Beach, received a General Motors ‘Honours’ award in the Top Performing New Vehicle Sales Department ‘Major’ category.
In addition, the Isuzu Trucks side of things was named Dealership of the Year for 2016, with Shaun Posthumus named Truck Sales Manager of the Year, and also Top Sales Manager for GM.
That’s some going. Dealer Principal Noel Allchin was pleased with the recent results.
Part of the ‘Honours’ awards is a trip to somewhere special in South Africa for Noel and his wife Debra, but Noel wasn’t sure exactly where at this stage.
If he was chuffed with this award, then he was beyond thrilled that Isuzu Trucks had won Dealer of the Year for the seventh successive year.
“Very happy, we’ve kept our streak going,” he said. For this, a trip to Mauritius awaits, with some fishing planned no doubt.
He said all factors of the business were ‘scored’ and a final mark arrived at, so it really was a team effort.

Noel thanked his dedicated staff for their hard work, as well as the loyal customers.
“I think the new facility has had a lot to do with our success. Our workshop has broken all kinds of records and our customers have enjoyed the more professional set-up,” he said.
A big focus in the business has been the truck fleets (bearing in mind the global dip in new car sales) and Noel felt the service provided in helping truck fleet owners get their vehicles back on the road in good time had been a key to winning the award again.
“Our customers need to get their trucks back out there generating income, so we do our best to keep them in the workshop for as short a time as possible, yet still providing quality service,” added Noel.
He also felt that interest in the Isuzu brand on the whole had grown somewhat in the past few years.
In terms of Opel, he said it was ‘business as usual’.
Speaking about the Opel Astra, he described it as a magnificent vehicle, and hoped that it would hit its straps locally.
