Golfers roar with Ramsgate Lions at Margate Country Club
Some quality scores have been recorded this past week.
THE annual Ramsgate Lions’ golf day took place at Margate Country Club last Saturday.
Cleaning up on 50 points were Rolf and Agnes Spielmann. Runners-up were Louis Brand and Bertie Terblanche on 48 points.
Third went to Frik van Zyl and Theuns Esterhuizen on 47 points.
Two pairs carded 46 points, namely Johan and Cathy Meyer, who counted out Ronnie Mtshaka and John Rudling.
There were also two pairs on 45 points, with Alan Davies and Keith Duncalf counting out John Crewe and Gary Smith.
In eight place on 44 points were Fanie Terblanche and Louw van Niekerk, on a countout from Doug Johnston and Derek Egerton, as well as Flip Fourie and Johan Erasmus.
Nearest the pins were Flip Fourie (2nd), John Rudling (4th) and Vusi Maphumulo (8th), John Webster (11th) and Frik van Zyl (16th).
The women’s alliance last Tuesday was won by Jane Davies, Una McLachlan and Anita Scheepers on 79 points.

Runners-up on 75 points were Agnes Spielmann, Chiappini Boshoff and Hannetjie Pretorius.
Wednesday Wobblers’ comp saw first place go to John Gibson, Roy Phillips and Andrew Dickerson on 85 points.
Arthur Tomlinson Floater ; Dave Morsley, Rob McGill, Freddie Boshoff, 70 pts.
In second place were Otto Mutschler, Rob Brien and Nico van Vuuren on 82 points, counting out Dave Parsons, Derek Egerton and Rolf Spielmann.
Three players scored 40 points in Week 12 of the Carreira-Curlewis Cup at Margate Country Club last Thursday, namely Dries Barkhuizen, Johan Erasmus and Patrick Mavundla.
After the countout, it was Dries who was left smiling with a big prize in hand, with Johan and Patrick left to rue what could have been.
Nearest the pins went to Louie Carreira (4th) and Graham Gold (16th).
