From the bowling greens: Triple delight for Bell bowlers
The club is on something of a roll at the moment.
KINGFISHER BOWLING ASSOCIATION
AFTER a bit of a damp start, the KBA women’s trips final was held at Margate in brilliant sunshine with even more brilliant bowls being played.
The Bell was out in full force with three teams in the play-offs.
AMBC’s Moira Humphrey, Hester Hankey and Louise Shone gave it their all, but had to settle for joint third place with The Bell’s Daphne Sapsford, Barbara Gradwell and Mada Lindique.
The Bell went on to have an ‘in-house’ final.
The eventual victors of what was a really nail-biting finish were Maureen Muller, Cyndy McMurtry and Tina Barbour.
Runners-up were Maureen Head, Johannie Theron and Michelle Vermeulen.
BANNERS REST
WINNERS of the Tops Port Edward men’s pairs played last Sunday were John Keppler and Gino Alilovic.
Placed second were Dave Hume and Leigh Warner. In third place were Jimmy McAllister and Bob Francis. The 50/50 board went to Ron Camps.
Next sponsored competition is the GP Security and Golden Moon Spur mixed pairs tomorrow (7th).
The HELP Foundation fund-raiser will be this Sunday (9th) at 9.30am.
Banners Rest will also host the KBA mixed fours this Saturday (8th). Supporters welcome.
HIBBERDENE
TABIE Jonker and Judy Aiston won the Mike Hoyer nominated mixed 2-4-2 last Friday. Second were Bez and Bubbles Bezuidenhout.
Session was won by Eddie Milne and Hana Svoboda. Lucky draw to Albert and Alida Munnik.
Next comp is the Tiago’s Open Flame nominated mixed trips this Friday (7th).
Thanks to those who helped during the KBA novice singles last Saturday.
Last week Wednesday saw the first round of the KBA midweek league.
MARGATE CC
THE winners of the Hopdens Manaba Kwikspar trips were Franci Philpot, Dora Vosloo and Georgie McKechnie.
Runners-up were Graham and Angi Gold and Cindy Cano.

KRAFTY Chamleon mixed trips winners were Piet Heunis, Cliff Moakes and Rina Fourie, from Hedley Meek, Sergio and Pat Ruperto.

Easter Chicken Run is on Monday, April 17 at 2pm for 2.30pm.
R10 green fees, casual clothes, wear an Easter bonnet/cap, prizes for the best. Bring your family and friends. Bowls followed by a bring and braai.

PORT EDWARD
THE annual Barry Payn business day was a tremendous success.
There were 56 ‘non-bowlers’ from Port Edward, Kokstad and Amanzimtoti, who filled the green with excellent bowls, laughter and friendship.
The winning team was Gary Wells, Dean Wicks, Ashley Keal and Mackie Swart.
Peter Brereton’s team from John Deere in Kokstad took second place.
The 7th Heaven two-bowl trips was won by John Keppler, Gino Alilovic and Sariena Ziervogel, from Rod and Mary Phelps and Ally Weir.
Session went to Joe Ashworth, Glen Allen and Ann McAllister. Board to Mary Phelps.

Well done to Alan Wallace for winning his section of the KBA novice singles.
The Property Port sponsored trips played last Sunday was won by Mark Bischoff, Judy Hové and Nellis Hattingh.
Runners-up were Tom Semple, Derek Cilliers and Peter Anderson, with Mike King, Trevor Mann and Karen Delaney taking third spot.
Next tournament will be the South Coast Herald mixed 2-4-2 on April 13.
THE BELL
THE Orca Restaurant sponsored mixed trips was won by Geoff and Tina Barbour with Peter Giblin.
In second place were Pete and Susan van Rooyen with Kevin Mullen. Session prize went to Sandy and Stan Penny with Phil Viljoen.
Captain’s Anchor sponsored mixed fours will be played this Friday (7th) and the Jaxx/Venture Inn Bottle Store/Sayidi open trips on April 11.

HEN Hills and Hans van der Walt won the Martin Electronics men’s 2-4-2 from Hein Bester and Neels Boshoff.

The winners of Hopden’s Kwikspar mixed 2-4-2 were Alan Tyers and Denise Palframan followed by John Sutton and Betty Bolton.
