Gaby flies solo
Gaby recently branched out on her own and opened her own training academy called ‘Dogs-R-Us’
DESPITE being diagnosed with cancer in early 2016, Gaby Frey’s ‘mystical miracle’ Scooby bounced back after two operations and several months of rehabilitation.
Even the loss of one of her toes did not deter this little survivor, who courageously picked up where she left off. Scooby went on to become the best small dog in KZN in all categories, beating much younger rivals at her distinguished age of 12.

On top of this, Scooby was the SA dog jumping runner-up, and was recognised with a Lifetime Achiever award. Scooby’s indomitable spirit has proved yet again that she is indeed one in a million.
Gaby Frey has been helping people train their dogs for over 40 years. Under Gaby’s mentorship many handlers of all ages have qualified to take part at the SA champs. Her incredible passion for the sport
of dog agility has led her to achieve great heights with her own dogs, especially Scooby.
In response to a growing demand for coaching and training, Gaby recently branched out on her own and opened her own training academy called ‘Dogs-R-Us’.
“Any age of dog is trainable,” explains Gaby. “My first dog was eight years old. Naturally, it’s ideal to start training with your dog as a puppy, because a puppy course establishes foundations of trust, understanding and communication that will enhance your relationship and performance for the rest of your dog’s life.”
The course is loads of fun for both puppy and handler and the same goes for agility training too. So, if you have a high-energy dog, Gaby will help channel that energy into productive exercise and well-disciplined skill.
