‘Fifty pointer’ for Johan and Riaan at Hibiscus Rotary golf day
There's been a lot on the go at the club this week.
Highlight of the week at Margate Country Club was the Rotary Golf Day last Saturday, sponsored by Martin Electronics.
Winners were Riaan Croucamp and Johan Wentzel on 51 points, three ahead of Graeme Massam and Mike Lee, as well as Frik van Zyl and Johan Erasmus.
Also on 48 points were Peter Hunter and Pierre Malherbe.

Three pairs tied on 47 points, with the countout going to Robin Shuttleworth and Neil Townsend, James Fergus and Tony Holness, and Meryl Chambers and Mike Lig respectively.
Nearest the pins, sponsored by Out of Wood (Corjan Hilt) and Margate Pro Shop were Ulric Gous (2nd), Riaan Croucamp (4th), Neil Townsend (8th), Arthur Ehlert (11th) and Peter Hunter (16th).
Grace Fourie, Beryl Williamson and Evelyn Burls won the women’s alliance at Margate Country Club last Tuesday on 36 points.
The Wobblers game last Wednesday was won on 89 points by Freddie Boshoff, Louie Gouws and Hans Dallinger.
Runners-up were Cyril Greensmith, Rolf Spielman and Dave Parsons on 82 points.
Third went to Johan Hulshof, Jan Richter and Peter Hunter on 80 points.
Arthur Tomlinson Floater went to Piet Pretorius, Konnie Konrad and Nico van Vuuren on 71 points.
Thursday’s pro shop comp was won by Joe Espach on 45 points, with Jim Finn next on 40 points.
Nearest the pins were won by Johan Erasmus (11th) and Chris Nel (16th).
Friday’s business day was won on 93 points by Jaco van der Wal, Deon Meyer, Johan Neethling and Heber de Beer.
Runners-up on 91 points were Theuns Esterhuizen, Christo Esterhuizen, Zandru Coetzee and Ulric Gous.
Third place went to Joe Espach, Johan Erasmus, Riaan Croucamp and Flip Fourie on 85 points.
