Herald Fishing: Kob on the run, shad season re-opens on December 1
Now is a good time to bag a trophy kob.
Kob are still on the run at all the usual spots on the South Coast.
With the water the colour that it is at the moment (discoloured, ginger) it is the right time to go and specifically target that trophy kob.
Paddletails are the fastest way of testing if kob are around.

Simply spend a few minutes throwing a paddletail in some suitable water will let you know if any kob are in the area.
Once you have located the best area to fish you can resort to the more traditional methods of either live bait or chokka baits.
Kob are sensory hunters, so incorporate as much movement and sound in your bait as possible.
There are reports that some decent bronze bream, stumpies and stone bream have been caught.
These have all fallen for well-presented prawn baits fished either on the sandbanks for the stumpies or around the rocky gullies and ledges for the bream.
Shad season will be open on Friday, December 1. Anglers, remember you limits and fishing licences.
It’s time to get your bass tackle out as summer is here and the dams are clearing up with all the rain that has fallen.
Early mornings and late afternoon should get you a trophy bass.
