Sachin Kalkapersad stars for Southern’s cricket
The team has produced some solid results so far this season.
Sachin Kalkapersad cracked a sparkling 51 to see the Southern KwaZulu-Natal cricket team beat Lindelani Cricket Club by six wickets last Sunday.
The match was played at Port Shepstone Country Club.
The hosts won the toss and chose to bowl in a match reduced to 30 overs a side due to extensive pitch recovery operations that had to be carried out due to the heavy rain earlier in the week.
Lindelani CC made 136 for six in 30 overs, with Gareth Bishop best of the bowlers with 2-14 in five overs.
Gershion Lawrence bagged 2-21 in six overs. Others who took wickets were Imtiaz Hatiya (1-15) and Junaid Khan (1-14).
Matt Redinger (0-20), Brinley de Bruin (0-24) and Sahal Mansur (0-17) went wicketless.

Southerns knocked off the runs within 23 overs. Redinger opened with Kalkpersad and was out for 21 runs.
Bishop made only 1, while Ashley Lombard, who kept wicket on the day, managed 18.
Hatiya was unbeaten on 25 and Lawrence on 11 when the match ended.
Southern KZN, sponsored by Sunola Oil Mills, is currently at the top of the Challenge League Stream Two 50-Over competition.
Thanks are extended to Yusuf Moosa for the generous contribution of kit.
They play Tongaat away this weekend and then Chatsworth at home the following weekend.
That’ll wrap up the first round of fixtures, with the return legs to take place in the new year.
