From the bowling greens: Sevens heaven for some … and more gremlins lurk in KBA diary

KINGFISHER BOWLING ASSOCIATION
Finally, on a bright sunny Sunday the Sevens League semis and finals were completed.
Thank you to everyone involved for your patience and understanding in what has been a difficult couple of weeks with rain interference.
The Daphne Conradie Sevens (women) was won by AMBC from runners-up Margate ‘A’.
In third place were Port Shepstone followed by The Bell.
The men’s Sevens League was won in a winner-takes-all final by Port Shepstone from runners-up AMBC.
The executive committee thanked The Bell members for the use of their facilities and flexibility over the last weekend.

Special thanks to the women in the kitchen who bent over backwards to keep everyone fed and watered.
It looks like the gremlins were working overtime on the new diary.
Apologies to those concerned but the 2017 trips results on page 3 are from the previous year and not this year.
The good news is the pictures on the facing page are correct.
The women’s winners were Maureen Muller, Cyndy McMurtry and Tina Barbour and runners-up were Maureen Head, Johannie Theron and Michelle Vermeulen.
The men’s winners were Roy Anderson, Howard Frizelle and Mark Smith and the runners-up were Mark Bischoff, John Hové and Nellis Hattingh.
BANNERS REST
Brian and Pam Cole-Cook won the Golden Moon Spur 2-4-2 mixed pairs last Wednesday.
Placed second were Andreas van der Linde and Amy Korner, followed by Dice Graaff and Josephine Ashworth.
The 50/50 board went to Ann McAllister.
GP Security mixed pairs is this Friday (1st) and Tops Port Edward men’s pairs this Sunday (3rd).
HIBBERDENE
The regular games last week were abandoned due to rain.
The next competition is this Friday (1st).
MARGATE BC
Winners of the Georgia Spur vouchers were Gerry Davey, Georgie McKechnie and Jeanne Gregori.
Christmas lunch is this Sunday (3rd) with music by Kate Vink. Remember to bring two new toys.
Coming up … darts evening on December 8, quiz night on December 13, and women’s two-bowl trips on December 15.
Social bowls is played every Sunday morning at 9am. Dress is casual, bowls and assistance provided.
Duties: Office – André van Niekerk; tea – Franci Philpott and Yvonne James.
MARGATE CC
The very popular Food Lover’s Market Chicken and Egg competition was won by Kobie Stander, Barry Herbert and Sandi Johnstone.
Runners-up were Graham Gold, Gae Gravell and Peta Edgerton.
Third place went to Martiens Olivier, Coenie and Cindy Cano.
The final placing went to Peter Griffiths, Clive Edmundson and Johan Cooper.
The bowls Christmas lunch will be this Sunday (3rd).
PORT EDWARD
The Wilcote/Splish Splash Car Bath Pro 10 mixed trips last Tuesday was won by Rob Lyle, Pat Brand and Lyn Walton from Barry Payn, Trevor Smith and Steffie Harries.
Third place went to Piet Heunis, Val Smith and Rina Fourie. 50/50 board to Val Smith.
Friday’s Robin Hood/Indulgence Beauty Salon mixed pairs was won by Jokkie and Marianne van Buuren with Leigh and Mary Warner in second place.
Session prize to Chris Green and Leone Bloem. 50/50 board won by Frank Foley.
Social bowls continues at 1.30pm on Wednesdays and Saturdays, visitors welcome.
Sundowners and twilight bowls at 4pm on Fridays.
SOUTHPORT
The Suzuki South Coast men’s trips was won by Rynier van Tonder, Leon Sander and Nico van Niekerk from Bez Bezuidenhout, Brian Pirie and Bruce Hoyer.
Session prize went to Richard Cochman, Nellis Hattingh and Peter Anderson.
Artur Lopes, Tammy Gibbons and Ian Gordon won the Dr D’arcy mixed trips.
Second prize went to Geoff Kellener, Jane Massam and Richard Cochman, with third going to Trevor Main, Tony Aveyard and Lyn Harris.
Next competition will be the Harbour View SuperSpar women’s trips today (30th).
Jumble/Boot Sale fund-raiser will be held on Saturday, December 9 in the morning.
THE BELL
Congratulations to Sharolyn Dacey, Charmaine Vermeulen, Tina Barbour, Stippie Scholtz, Susan van Rooyen, Annette Scott and Maureen Head who came fourth in the KBA Sevens League.
Many thanks to Joan Knott and Joan Hamilton who worked tirelessly in the kitchen the whole weekend to ensure all players in the Sevens and Saturday league were looked after.
Winners of the Fruit and Veg City 2-4-2 were Tina and Geoff Barbour.
Runners-up were Mada Lindeque and Hew Hodgson. Second session winners were Michell Vermeulen and Paul Mundell.
Winners of the open trips, sponsored by Sharolyn Dacey and Jaxx Restaurant, were Duncan Randall, Robbie Duyts and Barry Krause.
Runners-up were Bez Bezuidenhout, Bruce Hoyer and Cheryl Knight. Session prize went to Tina and Geoff Barbour with Margie Randall.
VILLAGE
Winners of the Martin Electronics mens 2-4-2 were Alan Tyers and Ken Hill from runners-up Brian Douthwaite and Bill Eccles.
Second session went to Keith Roach and Geoff Oliver and first session to Tony Waters and Hein Bester. The 50/50 draw was won by Graham Fisher.
Don’t forget the Christmas lunch this Sunday (3rd). Next Tuesday (5th) is the Hibiscus Retirement Village men’s trips.
