From the bowling greens: Bell bowlers ring in league win
News and results from South Coast bowling clubs.
KINGFISHER BOWLING ASSOCIATION
The women’s first league was won by The Bell ‘A’. The second league was won by Hibberdene ‘A’, gaining promotion to the first league.
Third league was won by Riverside, securing promotion to the second league.
The men’s leagues will resume on January 13 next year.
A reminder to all clubs that the 300 Club lists must be in by this Friday (15th), otherwise the draw cannot be done at the council meeting on January 15.
BANNERS REST
Janet Venter, Leigh Warner and Dave Hume won the SuperSpar Port Edward 2-bowl mixed trips on Wednesday, December 13.
Chris Green, Leone Bloem and Ken Simm were runners-up. Second session went to Ron Camps, Dice Graaff and Myra Doubell, and the 50/50 board to Chris Green.
MUNSTER
Mariners Restaurant open trips was cancelled due to rain.
Spar mixed trips, Thursday December 28 – Tea duty Willie van Jaarsveldt, Rory Lawson and Penny Hood.
Christmas lunch was a great success. Christmas hamper winners – Danny Mullen, Joan and Barry Fowler, Albert van der Lith, Ian Gethen and Lenie Prinsloo who donated her prize back to the club for a redraw.
PORT EDWARD
The Cowshed/Golden Moon Spur mixed trips on Thursday last week was won by Leigh Warner, Dave Hume and Leoni Booth from Joe Ashworth, Frank Foley and Yvonne Fillis. Second session went to Rob Lyle, Val Smith and Pat Brand.
Overall winner of the fund-raising flying rinks was Pat Miller. Barry Payn and Greg Fifield tied for second with Denise Ralfe in fourth place.
Social bowls scheduled for Saturday 23rd and Wednesday 27th with tabs in at 1.30pm for 1.45pm.
PORT SHEPSTONE
The rain held off and we played our last Business Challenge of 2017 sponsored by the Hulleys and coordinated by Murray Ross and Brian Rawlins. Winners were Philip Geyer, John Nadauld and Justin Hincliff on 22+10 with Arthur Lopes, Tammy Gibbons and Alan Wallace runners-up on 22+9.
SOUTHBROOM
Winners of the recent Mariner’s Restaurant open fours were Shane Nienaber, Dieter Scholz, Barbara Brook and Ian Hutton.
Runners-up were John Keppler, Steve Rennie, Andreas van der Linde and Jenny Rennie.
First session to Alfred Shusha, Nico Mantoan, Mike Jacquet and Lorraine Wijtman.
Second session to Graham Fisher, Steve Evans, Mike Lyall and Julia Moorley.
50/50 board to Trebla Lansdell.
SOUTHPORT
Peet and Susan van Rooyen won the South Coast Herald 2-4-2 last Thursday. Runners-up were Una and Jan van Eeden and the session prize went to Tom Semple and Kitty Cochman.
The Southport Service Station Sunday mixed trips was won by Geoff Kelleher Jane Massam and Cosmos Gumede. Mike King, Alan Wallace and Perry Williams were runners-up and the session prize went to Arthur Lopes, Tammy Gibbons and Ian Gordon.
VILLAGE
Hein Bester, Annette Payne and Roy Robertson won the Hibiscus Insurance Brokers’ mixed trips. Denzil Massyn, Dora Vosloo and Gary Hess were runners-up. First session went to Alan Tyers, Ken Hill and Shirley Barlow. Second session won by Geoff Oliver, Ken Hibbert and Angie Butcher. The 50/50 was won by Geoff Oliver.
Winners of the Food Lover’s drawn trips were Ali Mitchell and Norman Isherwood from Hazel Hoskins, Winston van Greune and Mike Ryan. Dave Garland, Maureen Roach and Derrick Shell were third.
