Wobblers roll into new year in style

Scores have been close.

It’s been a hot summer with some good golf played at Margate Country Club.

The first Wobblers game for the year, played as a fourball alliance, was won by Rob Brien, Bob Weanie and Wimpie Jordaan and ‘Casper the Ghost’ on 93 points.

In second place on 87 points were Dave Parsons, Keith Pearson, John Gibson and Casper’s ‘boet’.

Third went to Tim Bainbridge, Hugh Ivan, Carl Zurfluh and Rob McGill on 86 points.

The Arthur Tomlinson Floater went to Konnie Konrad, Andy Morris and Johan Hulshof.

Last Thursday’s betterball Stableford was won on 47 points by Doug Johnston and Pierre Malherbe, two clear of Alan Davis and Wonderboy Nxumalo.

Nearest pins were Victor Mbhele (4th) and Pierre Malherbe (11th).

The first business day of the year last Friday was won on 72 points by Rob McGill, André Henn, Piet Pretorius and Frank Merrill.

Runners-up were John Crewe, Terry Yannikakis, Alan Clark and Tony Fairbairn on 70 points, followed by Wonderboy Nxumalo, Sbu Ntozakhe, Koko Zithumane and Winston Msezane on 69 points.

Nearest the pins were Ronnie Mtshaka (4th), Barry Oehme (11th).

Last Saturday’s monthly mug was won on nett 73 by Louis Gouws, three ahead of Sydney Shingange.

The B division honours went to John Webster on nett 67, one ahead of Fanie Terblanche.

Doug Johnston won the C division on 38 points, counting out Allan Halvorsen.

Nearest the pins were Bob Weanie (4th) and Thys Bothma (11th).
