Silver and gold for Blue Ocean swimmers
It was a great week of racing and the swimmers excelled.
Blue Ocean Aquatics Swimming Club had seven swimmers take part in the recent Speedo KwaZulu-Natal Premier Provincial Championships, Commonwealth Trials and Salga Games.
These were some of the most competitive provincial championships for 2017 in the province.

These swimmers were Milla Drakopoulos, Carla Kretzschmar, Michelle Kretzschmar, Marnu Koekemoer, Amber Vorster, Keytin Vorster and Janine Oosthuizen.
They competed in a combined total of 41 events.
Milla, Marnu, Amber and Michelle qualified to swim in the finals in the evening where they swam faster than in the heats in the morning.
Milla won two gold medals for the 100m and 200m freestyle races, as well as a silver medal in the 50m freestyle.
Marnu won silver medals for the 100m and 200m freestyle and 200m backstroke, as well as a bronze medal in the 50m backstroke.
Michelle qualified for B finals in all the backstroke events, namely 50m, 100m and 200m.
Amber qualified and swam finals in all the breaststroke events.
She had an improvement of 37.27 seconds over her eight swims.
Milla improved her times by 23.53 seconds while Marnu was 41.12 seconds faster on his swims.
The senior swimmers also improved on their times with Keytin improving by 2.65 seconds, Janine by 0.76seconds, Carla by 8.51 seconds and Michelle Kretzschmar by 0.13 seconds.
At the Salga Games in Richards Bay last year, Winé Koekemoer won one silver and three bronze medals.
Tharien Venter won two silver medals and one bronze medal. Tayne Rudling won a bronze medal for the 100m butterfly.
