Southbroom open for ‘Closed’

The course is in superb condition.

The end of another busy season has come and things have settled down to a calmer pace at Southbroom Golf Club.

There’s a lot coming up, including the Southern KwaZulu-Natal Closed on Saturday, January 27.

This will be over 36 holes and will help towards selecting the Southern KZN league team for the year.

In regular news, the women’s alliance last Wednesday was won by Allyson Thomas, Glynis Nisbet, Wendy Huddy and Laura Bekker on 92 points.

Runners-up were Shirley Jeffery, Augi D’Ewes, Lindsay Owen and ‘ghost’ on 87 points.

The men’s competition was won on 101 points by Bob Thomas, Chris Miller, Wilfred Bessell and Paul Cole.

Six off the pace were John Whitnall, Peter Leeming, Malcolm Greenland and Colin McKay, followed one point behind by Kerry Fielden, Dave Page, Steven and Gordon Moody.

Last Saturday’s competition saw Sandy Luus, Jeanette Peyios, Shelly Myers and Irene Schanda win on 96 points.

In second place were Michelle Davies, Rene Matthew, Allyson Thomas and Jean Corfe on 95 points.

The men’s alliance was won on 99 points by Jim Cook, Garth Strong, Chris Miller and Paul Cole.

Two teams tied on 98 points, namely Arthur Lee, Stuart Janvier, Piet Joubert and Rob Williams, as well as Pierre van der Walle, Kerry Fielden, Gordon Moody and Dave Page.
