Scottburgh bowls invitation day a great success

New bowlers are welcome to join the regulars.

SUNDAY morning, January 21 saw members and visitors arriving to fill the south green. There was a wonderful atmosphere as the non-bowlers got to grips with the game and seemed to enjoy the morning thoroughly.

It was very warm so they played two-bowl trips in order to be off the green before it was too hot. After their thirst was quenched, the men headed for the fires and a lovely braai meal was enjoyed by all. Let’s hope we see some of the new bowlers on the green again soon.

Winners of the mixed 2-4-2 (from left) Richard and Helen Turk, runners-up Gina George and Richard van Waltsleven and second session winners Annetjie and Brian Kidd.

There was a wonderful turnout for the mixed 2-4-2 held last Friday. AMBC made a clean sweep of the prizes. The winners on 4+19 were Richard and Helen Turk, the runners-up on 4+16 were Richard van Waltsleven and Gina George and the second session went to Brian and Annetjie Kidd on 2+13. Well done to all of you and many thanks to our sponsors, Scottburgh Country Club, Atlanta Spur and Bell and Anchor.

The Thursday trips afternoon was won by Brian Selvan, Brian Williams and Glen Widdison on +14.

Saturday afternoon’s mini-competition was won by Keith Findlay, Cambell Marr and Clive Holmes on +12. Thank you to Food Lover’s Market for supplying the vouchers for these winners.

The Halfway Toyota Scottburgh 5th will be held on Wednesday, January 31 at 1.30pm for 2pm. There are always great prizes, so make sure your mixed trips team is in – remember only one skip per team. There is a list on the notice board or phone Clive at 083-3066534.
