Dan Dimitriu now at Tweni tennis helm, Raj excels in the Cape
There have been some changes at the club.
UMTENTWENI Tennis Club held its annual general meeting last Saturday.
The following members were elected as office-bearers for 2018: Dan Dimitriu (chairman), Raj Naganna (vice-chairman), Anne Payn (secretary), Isabeau le Roux (treasurer), Colin Barker (groundsman), Julia Christiansen (youth development) and Jean Marx (scribe).
Grant Wood kept last Saturday’s 12 players well-nourished with delicious sarmies, chocolate crunchies and banana bread that were much appreciated by all.
Members wish them a happy and successful term of office and thank Foxy Norton and his committee for everything they did for the club over the past two years. There are now six super courts thanks to their efforts.
Anyone who would like to play tennis is welcome to come along. Beginners can contact Julia Christiansen or Keagan van der Merwe to arrange for coaching. Remember that tennis is a sport you can play well in to your seventies.

Congratulations go to Raj Naganna and Dan Dimitriu who did well in a seniors’ tournament held in Cape Town recently.
Raj reached the finals of the men’s singles and mixed doubles in his age group and Dan won the backdraw in the men’s singles.

The heat was daunting early in the afternoon but it cooled down a little round about 4pm and made playing really pleasant.
