Teams ride into town for Southbroom Golf Club ‘Shootout’
There's always great excitement on Sunday, when three of the four individual scores count.
It’s almost time for the Southbroom International Shootout at Southbroom Golf Club.
The popular tournament, which attracts golfers from all over Europe, tees off this Friday and ends on Sunday.
Sponsored by Applied Outsourcing, teams of four play alliance on day one, betterball on day two and individual on day three.
Winners of last week Wednesday’s competition were Lesley Godley, Shelley Myers, Rene Matthew and Jeanne Powell on 89 points.
Runners-up were Della Kemptorne, Carol Lamb, Julie Walker and ‘ghost’ on 88 points.
In the men’s competition, top spot went to Geoff Skelton, Charlie Watt, Bob Carmichael and ‘ghost’ on 99 points.
In second place were Gary Purtell, Malcolm Greenland, Russell Mackenzie and Colin McKay on 95 points.
Third place went to Craig Treherne, Steve Wells, Derrik and Bruce Matthew on 89 points.

Last Saturday’s Casa Toscana sponsored competition was won on 47 points by Jeanne Powell and Allyson Thomas, one ahead of Anita Landolf and Alexndra Huber.
Third place went to Sandy Fitzgerald and Solange Fox on 45 points.
The men’s winners were Colin and Ross McKay on 52 points, counting out Kerry Fielden and Gordon Moody.
Third spot was claimed by Dave Page and George Wright on 50 points.
Chicken Run winners last Friday were James Fergus on 19 points, counting out Eugene Orsmand.
On 18 points were Gavin Sole, Geoff Skelton, Malcolm Greenland, John Fox and Charlie Watt.
