Good turnout for ‘fifth’ at Scottburgh BC
There'll be cricket at the club on Valentine's Day.
A wonderful turnout of 60 players took part in the first Halfway Toyota Scottburgh 5th for 2018. There were two session prizes, the first was won by Irene Crawshaw, Graham Jackson and Mike Malone on +52 and the second went to Simon Schaaij, Anne and P Williams of Umkomaas on +36.
The runners-up on +48 were Mike Robertson, Hilary and Clive Holmes and the winners on +50 were Lyn and Ronny Seymour and Barbara Fountain (all Scottburgh). Many thanks to Halfway Toyota for the generous prizes.
Last Friday there was also a lovely group of bowlers for the mixed trips. The winners on 4+20 were Lada Cizek, Gay Jutte and Lobo Pillay, the runners-up on 4+13 were Dave and Anthea Jaap and Dave Montile and the second session went to John and Estelle Collier and Barbara Fountain on 2+8.
Well done to all of you and many thanks to Scottburgh Country Club, Atlanta Spur and Umdoni Park Restaurant for supplying the winning vouchers.
Thursday’s twilight trips was won by Betty Bell, Dave Montile and Brenda Arden on +9 and they can thank Bell and Anchor for their vouchers. Unfortunately the Saturday afternoon mini-competition was rained off before it was finished.
We will be holding a fun fund-raising morning at the club on Wednesday, February 14, St Valentine’s Day. The game will be ‘cricket’ – wear red and white and be there by 8.30am. There is a list on the noticeboard or phone Lyn if you would like to come and join in. There will be prizes for the teams with the most ‘runs’ and the most ‘wickets’. This is always great fun, so come along and play. This morning will also be open to new bowlers.

Wednesday mornings are especially for those wishing to learn to play bowls. If you would like to come and try, come to Scottburgh Bowling Club at 8.30am. We will lend you bowls and teach you the basics before you have a game. Wear flat shoes and bring a hat. If you work, please phone Lyn at 082-8787170 and an alternative time will be arranged. On a Sunday morning you are also welcome to come and give bowls a try – also 8.30am.
