UGU Surfriders held its annual champs (for 2017) at Scottburgh beach last weekend.
It was well attended and saw a number of young surfing talents take to the water to show off their talents, in an effort to win trophies … and impress the likes of former world tour surfer Heather Clark.

Derek Horlock, who recently won the Striped Horse big wave competition and won himself a trip to Hawaii, was also in the mix.
The sport is enjoying a resurgence of late, with numerous youngsters getting involved, from Scottburgh all the way down to Port Edward.
Hopefully, a world champ could emerge from this group.
It is possible, as the Ugu region has had a habit of producing some exceptionally good surfers.
