Raja Kazi rains on Phoenix’s parade

The team is on a roll at the moment.

If you thought the Proteas game against India last Sunday was a low-scoring one, then you weren’t at the game between Southern KwaZulu-Natal and Phoenix at Rainham.

Phoenix batted first and inched their way to 63 all out in 22.4 overs.

Spinner Raja Kazi was again simply unplayable, returning firgures of five for 13 in 6.4 overs.

He had support from speedsters Matt Redinger and Sahal Mansur, who opened things up at the top of the order.

They finished with two for 16 and two for 19 respectively. Gershion Lawrence picked up the other wicket, for 19 runs in five overs.

In response, Southern KZN found that batting wasn’t that easy and lost four wickets before passing the score in the fourteenth over.

Ali Iftikhar made 12, Redinger 4, Sachin Kalkapersad 18 and Ashley Lombard 7.

The not-out batsmen were Morné Bishop on seven and Gareth Bishop on six.
