Schools’ volleyball tournament schedule announced
All interested primary and secondary schools are welcome to enter all tournaments.
The schools’ volleyball committee, which operates under the auspices of the Port Shepstone Volleyball Association, has released its tournament schedule for 2018 following its annual schools’ volleyball committee meeting held towards the end of 2017.
The following people were elected to serve on the committee – Jason Govender (chairman), Devi Govender (secretary), Leena Nandalal (treasurer), Prenesen Naidoo (PRO) and Dennis Moodley (chief tournament director).
Teddy Moodley, Clinton Pillay and Johnny Rajoo were co-opted onto the tournament organising committee. Other teachers are also welcome to serve on the committee, whose main task is to draw up fixtures as well as co-ordinate the school KO tournaments for the year.
The divisions for the 2018 season will be under 12 and under 14 in the primary school section, while the high school divisions will be under 16 and over 16.
All interested primary and secondary schools (new and currently affiliated schools) are welcome to enter all tournaments. The team entry fees will remain R100 per team. Schools can enter as many teams as they wish, providing they can afford the total entry fees.

The 2018 season promises to be quite exciting with two full school volleyball tournaments scheduled for the months of March and May, as well as interdistrict.
The unanimous re-election of the highly experienced sports official, Jason Govender, as chairman is likely to bring enormous benefits to local schools in terms of coaching and development clinics, in view of his representation at district, provincial and national school sports’ structures.
The dates for the two school volleyball tournaments for 2018 are as follows; Saturday, March 3 and Saturday, May 19.
The closing date for confirmation and submission of schools’ entries for each tournament is a week before the tournament date. As all tournaments are pre-entry events, unfortunately no late entries will accepted.
As from 2018, as proof of age and identity, all schools must attach a passport size photo to a certified copy of the birth certificate/ID document.
Should interested schools want further information such as entry forms, qualifying ages and dates they can email their requests to psvolleyball@gmail.com.
