Blue Ocean swimmer Jethro Rolfe qualifies for nationals
It was a good weekend for the club and head coach Mandy Koegelenberg is looking forward to the forthcoming national and regional championships.
Blue Ocean Aquatics Swimming Club had 12 swimmers take part in the KwaZulu-Natal Level 2 provincial swimming championship in Durban recently.
The club placed fourth in the province at this level.

Nelzaan Strydom (14) and Jethro Rolfe (12) won their age group categories.
Nelzaan swam her way to six silver medals and two bronze medals to clock up the points for age group winner.
Jethro won six gold, one silver and one bronze medal to win his age category.
He also swam a South African junior national qualifying time in the 200m breaststroke and will now be competing at SA junior nationals in late March.
Hannah Scott was very competitive and won three gold medals, two silver medals and two bronze medals in her respective events, with time improvements of 11.47 seconds.
Gemma Allchin cleaned up in the 10 and under age group breaststroke events by winning gold in all three breaststroke events, 50m,100m and 200m.
Daniel Fisher won a gold medal in the 50m breaststroke, a bronze in the 200m breaststroke 11year old boys events, with time improvements of 32.97 seconds overall.
Ava-Mae Lilje won a gold medal in the 50m freestyle by finding her form in the sprint event and improved on that time by 0.41 seconds.
She also won a bronze medal in the 100m freestyle.

Kayla Heydricks won a gold medal in the 200m backstroke, 15 and over age group.
Ricardo Carthew found form in his events, had an overall time improvement of 70.28 seconds over his nine events swum and secured four silver medals and two bronze medals.
Winé Koekemoer won two bronze medals and was able to qualify in the higher age group for Level 2 regional championships which will take place in the April holidays in Sasolburg.
George Annandale won a bronze medal in the 200m freestyle in the 10 and under age group event.
Tharien Venter and Jordan Grobler were also part of the winning team and both these swimmers where able to get points for the club by placing in the 10 swimmers in their age group.
