Treat in store for golfers as top women players descend on coast
The two events offer a great opportunity to watch some of the top women golfers up close.
Golf fans on the South Coast are in for a treat soon when not one, but two, events on the Sunshine Ladies’ Tour find their way to this region.
First up is the SA Women’s Masters at San Lameer Country Club from February 22 to 24.
Defending champion is Carrie Park, who has done fairly well at San Lameer in previous tournaments.
The prize-fund for the SA Women’s Masters is R350 000.
Unfortunately, San Lameer CC won’t be hosting the SA Women’s Open as it has for the past few years.

The tournament has a new sponsor, Investec, and prize-money to the tune of R2-million.
It was due to be played at Altanta Beach Country Club in Cape Town from March 8-10 but due to the drought will move to Westlake Golf Club, on the same date.
Back on the coast, the SuperSport Ladies’ Challenge will be presented by Sun International at Wild Coast Sun Country Club from February 28 to March 2.
Defending champion is Kim Williams and the prize-fund is R400 000. She came close to winning at San Lameer CC in late 2015 and should be among the leading contenders this year.
These two events will be preceeded by the SLT Dimension Data Challenge.
Lee-Anne Pace won the recent Cape Town Ladies’ Open at Royal Cape Golf Club.
She has won the SA Women’s Open three years in a row at San Lameer CC and will be very difficult to beat.
