Herald Fishing: Bronze bream make late show
Rock and surf fishing has been good this week.
The fishing has been spectacular over the last week in both the rock and surf as well as the offshore scene.
Reports are in of some beautiful bronze bream being caught, even though it is very late in the season.
These fish have been favouring pink prawn bait, larger than normal.
Make sure you put at least two prawns on as a bait. This makes a nice, bulky bait that the fish seem to just suck in.
The shad have decreased in number over the last week but are still around in the early mornings.
On the inedible side, the flatties and sharks have been feeding well.

Reports have emerged of a lot of sand sharks, diamond rays and hammerhead sharks being caught and released safely.
Anglers are still catching a lot of hound sharks at famous points such as Stiebel Rocks in Umzumbe, all the way down to Splash Rock in Port Edward.
On the deep sea front there have been wahoo, tuna and lots of bait. This has been the story for the last few weeks.
The bait has been in big pockets off the South Coast for the entire week. These have been mainly shoals of mackerel and redeye.
A couple of dorado have been caught.
Anglers fishing on the Protea Reef have been bagging a lot of tuna but the ‘tax man’ (sharks) have been anchoring under their boats for a quick snack.
Bottom fishing hasn’t been too great as there have been a lot of undercurrents.
