Scottburgh bowlers could give the Proteas a lesson
Without a doubt, the best dressed award went to Yvonne Robarts, who looked amazing.
SAINT Valentine’s Day started with over 40 members and visitors taking to the greens to play ‘cricket’. They all arrived in their red and white, had the rules explained to them and off they went. It is amazing how the squeals of joy resonated across the green when someone got a ‘wicket’!
The winning team, consisting of Bill Mason, Hilary Holmes and Steph Vosloo, got an amazing 81 runs and 12 wickets. Hilary was also ‘man of the match’ picking up 44 runs and seven wickets on her own. The runners-up with 69 runs and five wickets were Jeff White, Desire van den Berg and Delora Russell.
Without a doubt, the best dressed award went to Yvonne Robarts, who looked amazing.

There was a new award for the ‘rock bottom’ team and that went to Bill Widdison, Gerrie Herbst and Petro Kurger. The raffle was won by John Collier with second prize going to Malcom ‘V’. A great day was had by all!
Thursday’s Twilight Bowls went to Irene Crashaw, Derek Chapman and Jurie van Rensburg on +7 and, on Saturday afternoon, the winning pair were Dave Jaap and Mike Malone on +9. Thank you to Food Lover’s Market for supplying the vouchers for these competitions.

The mixed 2-4-2 was played on a very hot Friday morning. The second session went to Anthea and Dave Jaap (Scottburgh) on 2+17; the runners-up on 4+23 were Richard van Waltzleven (AMBC) and the winners, all the way from Marble Hall in Limpopo, were Andries and Elize Pieterse with 4+26. Well done to everyone and thank you to our generous sponsors Bell and Anchor, Enzo’s and Blue Marlin.
Friday evening was also the start of the annual Scottfin Business Action Bowls. The players began arriving early to get in a bit of practice before the games began.
There was a terrific atmosphere as the sections were announced and the opposition teams were given their rinks.
This competition will continue every Friday evening for the next six weeks.
