Bishops lead cricketing slaughter with bat and ball
It was a little like taking sweets from a baby for the batsmen.
Morné Bishop amassed 114 runs before ‘retiring hurt’ in the one-sided game between Southern KwaZulu-Natal and Newlands at Port Shepstone Country Club last Sunday.
If the sight of Bishop heading for a chair brought any relief to Newlands, that notion was soon dispelled.
Just about everyone made runs, and made them quickly. In the end, Southerns won by 262 runs.

Southerns made 389 for four in 50 overs, with Uzair Desai making 23, Sachin Kalkapersad 59, Matt Redinger 58, Ashley Lombard 53 not out, Raja Kazi 19 and Gareth Bishop 1 not out.
There were 43 extras as well, as Southerns piled on the agony.
In response, Newlands could only manage 127 all out in 21 overs.
Gareth Bishop starred with the ball, taking six for 21. Raja Kazi took two for 24 and Desai one for 23.
