Swimmers rewarded … and Blue Ocean’s splash gala awaits
There's a lot coming up for the local club.
A number of swimmers from Blue Ocean Aquatics Swimming Club have recently been awarded Ugu school colours.
The 24 swimmers (10 high school and 14 primary school) will be representing their respective schools and their home club at the KwaZulu-Natal Provincials trials next weekend.
The swimmers are (in no particular order) Jethro Rolfe, Byron Winrow, Hannah Scott, Milla Drakapoulous, Ricardo Carthew, Jordan Grobler, Mason Hielckert, Amber Vorster, Erin Heydricks, Kayla Heydricks, Rachel Fisher, Lea Scott, George Annandale, Winé Koekemoer, Carla Kretschmar, Michelle Kretschmar, Ava-Mae Lilje, Janine Oosthuizen, Nelzaan Strydom, Keytin Vorster, Gemma Allchin, Daniel Fisher, Olivia Hulley and Marnu Koekemoer.
Blue Ocean Aquatics’ Junior Splash Gala will take place at Creston College pool in Oslo Beach on Saturday, March 3.
It’s open to all those aged 13 years old and younger, with the exception of swimmers of any age with a Level 3 (old Level 2) or higher qualifying time (in any distance or stroke).
Due to popular demand there will be kick-board races again for the following age groups: girls and boys six years old and under, and girls and boys seven to eight years old.

Floating trophies will be awarded to the swimming club/swim school and the school with the most entries. So don’t forget to fill in your club and school on the entry form and tell your school friends and club members to enter.
There will be a tuck shop, spot prizes and a raffle. Closing date for entries is Friday, February 23.
