Herald Fishing: Shad on bite but rock and surf action slows
Fishermen are hoping the cold water pushes through soon.
The rock and surf scene started to pick up earlier in the week but has dropped off slightly with the warm water that has pushed through again.
We can only hope that the cold water pushes in soon for the upcoming sardine run that we wait for so eagerly.
Finally, the shad have made their appearance at The Block in Port Shepstone, with lots of anglers bagging decent catches.

The snoek are still around but are feeding very close in to the shore. Many Natal snoek have been caught on the Sandspit and Chaka’s Rock in Port Shepstone.
Anglers are getting hooked onto these magnificent fish with iron candy spoons and bullet spoons.
Once the cold water pushes in more permanently we can expect to see a few more of these very powerful fish coming out.
The South Coast has been producing some very nice edibles such as kob, rock cod and bronze bream.
Redeye sardines have proven themselves again as the best bait with pink prawn running a close second.
Chokka is another firm favourite bait that cannot be left out of the bait box at this time of year.
Weather looks good for the weekend fishing so, anglers, see you on the rocks and good luck to those taking part in the Marlin Ski-boat Club Game Fish Classic this Friday and Saturday.
