Great golf by Dolf … and Bheki at Margate CC

It's been a busy week for the club.

IT was monthly medal fun and games at Margate Country Club last week Saturday.

Winning the A-division on nett 61 off a seven handicap was Bheki Mavundla, who’s from Bluff National Park and related to Margate CC’s Robert Mavundla.

Runner-up was George Bothma on nett 66.

The B-division was won on nett 64 by Pierre Malherbe, with Keith Duncalf a distant second on nett 70.

Dolf Willemse won C-division on 36 points, counting out Thys Bothma.

In the women’s section the winner was Una McLachlan on nett 68, on a countout from Helga Wepener and Margaret Taylor.

Wondra Bothma, Rene Paton and Hannetjie Pretorius won the women’s alliance on 79 points last Tuesday.

They pipped Margaret Taylor, Hilary Hendry and Barbara Jackson by one point.

The Wobblers alliance was won on 91 points by Piet Pretorius, Freddie Boshoff and Otto Mutschler, eight ahead of Konnie Konrad, Cyril Greensmith and Jan Richter, who counted out Frank Merrill, Dave Parsons and Dolf Willemse.

Last Thursday’s Stableford saw John Crewe take the honours on 40 points, edging out Joe Espach, who had 39 points.

The business day last Friday was won on 94 points by Tienie Smit, Pieter Botes, Nicus Botes and Hannes van der Linde.

Runners-up on 90 points were Graham Gold, Mike Geiger, Danie van der Post and Guy Yeadon.

In third spot were Jesse Verster, Terry Yannakakis, Tony Fairbairn and John Crewe on 89 points.
