Something sweet at Port Shepstone Lions golf day
There was tremendous support for the Port Shepstone Lions golf day, sponsored by Illovo Sugar.
That the field was fully booked days before last Saturday shows the respect the local community has for the annual Port Shepstone Lions golf day, sponsored by Illovo Sugar.
It was held once again at Port Shepstone Country Club and saw R92 000 raised for charity.

That was without doubt the highlight of the day, as even winners Abel Yeeranna and Santhos Baskali will agree.
For the record, they scored 47 points to edge out Basil King and Jenny Hulley.
They in turn counted out Sheldon van der Merwe and Bevis Fairbrother.

“That last putt …” lamented Bevis, known to be, at best, a streaky putter.
Port Shepstone Lions president Denis Meyer said the day had been a great success.
“We’re extremely grateful to main sponsor, Illovo Sugar for, once again, so generously sponsoring and supporting the event,” he said.

He also thanked Port Shepstone CC for hosting the event, Harbour View SuperSpar for the catering, as well as all other sponsors and golfers who contributed towards the success of this very enjoyable annual project.
“Well done to project convener Lion Gary Vogt and his team for all their fine efforts. Approximately R92 000 was raised for the charity,” said Denis.
In regular club news, Greg Hornby and Charles Hulley won last Wednesday’s competition on +8, by one from Eddie Fann and Phil Myburgh.
The business day sponsored by Best Drive saw Phil Myburgh, Howard Frizelle, Michael Nadauld and Murray Ross clean up on 100 points.

Runners-up were Kavish Naidu, Santhos Baskali, Naveshin Moodley and Yeshvan Sampathmany on 95 points.
