Southbroom Ladies Classic: Golfing Gatsby … that was great
There's arguably more fun had off the course than on.
Some have said it may be the most popular women’s tournament in the country… maybe, maybe not.
Whatever the case, there’s a waiting list for the Southbroom Ladies’ Classic at Southbroom Golf Club every year.

And when you see the show the club puts on, the fun, pizzazz and panache, it’s easy to see why.
This year’s theme was 1920’s Gatsby, and once again it was embraced by all.
Walking through the clubhouse on Saturday and Sunday night you would have thought you might have travelled back a hundred years or so.
The winners this year were Trish Anderson and Anne Barrow, both members at Wanderers in Johannesburg, on a three-day score of 142.
Runners-up on 138 points were Patsy McDonic and Di Schlebusch, followed by Gwen James and Heather Clarke (no, not the surfer) on 136.
The big win coincided with Anne’s birthday so that was a special touch.
Weather was as close to perfect as you could ask, with light breeze keeping things cool.
Legends Players, namely Des Erasmus, Mel Davies, Richard Bridgeford and Deon de Beer shared their musical talents and got the party started in a huge way.
Saturday night’s highlight was the Southbroom Pro Shop Fashion Show, in which professional Derek James and Dane Adendorff played starring roles.
