THE Sanlam Cancer Challenge tournament was held at Margate Country Club last week Saturday, with keen interest to see who would win at club level and go through to the regional qualifier.
A-division honours went to Ronnie Mtshaka who shot one under par 70 off his six handicap for 42 points. That was Ronnie’s first sub-par score this year and what a time to do it.

Cyprian Xolo was next on 39 points, followed by Vusi Nyembe on 34 points.
In the B division, Carlos Pereira also found some red-hot form to card 44 points.
He won by two from Graeme Massam, with Sbu Ntozakhe in third spot on 41 points.
Angus McLachlan benefited from the countout to beat John Crewe to the C-division prize after both had 39 points.
Des Potts was third on 38 points.
Nearest the pins were Ronnie Mtshaka (2nd) and Des Potts (16th).
Women winners were (17 to 24) Barbara Jackson on 36 points by one from Maureen Ogilvie and Sandi Johnston 35 pts, as well as (25 to 36) Evelyn Burls on 43 points from Beryl Williamson on 39 points.
The Wobblers game at Margate Country Club last Wednesday was won on 95 points by Hanz Bielhartz, Bob Weanie and Peter Hunter.
Next on 87 points were Dave Morrison, Rob Brien and Piet Pretorius, with Frank Merrill, John Gibson and Rob McGill in third place on 84 points.
The Arthur Tomlinson Floater went to Hans Dallinger, Konnie Konrad and Cyril Greensmith on 80 points.
Last Thursday’s individual Stableford was won by Neil Townsend on 43 points, by three from John Webster.
Nearest the pins were Robbie Myburgh (2nd) and Fanie Terblanche (16th).
