Triumph of a road trip for South Coasters
The long drive all the way to Bloemfontein was well worth it.
A NUMBER of South Coasters travelled to the recent bi-annual get-together of the Triumph Sports Car Club of South Africa.
It was held at Maselpoort near Bloemfontein and organised by Pretoria Centre.

The get-together included a concourse at Windmill Casino where cars were judged and medals awarded.
It was a long drive for the group, which comprised Brian and Linda Hansell, Allan and Louise Halvorsen, as well as Dave Lugg who had Peter Lilliecrona for company.
They stayed over with friends in Hillcrest and the next day travelled for further a stop-over in Clarens.
It was decidedly chillier than the coastal weather but they enjoyed the beauty of the autumn colours that are missed on the coast.
As expected, there was lots of catching up do and discussions on the cars that were going, including TR3, TR4, Spitfires, TR7 and 8s and Stags.
The oldest car present was a 1947 Triumph Roadster.
Two of the South Coast members entered the concourse and both received medals, Dave Lugg for his black TR3 and Brian Hansell for his red Stag.
Alan Halverson, being the other South Coaster, did not enter but has a beautiful TR7.
The return journey saw them staying over at the Green Lantern Inn (owned by South Coasters Bill and Gail Ross-Adams) in Van Reenen.
It’s the same place where the Triumph Sports Car Club of South Africa was formed in 1974.
Again, it was a great evening, including a guest appearance in the bar by the resident donkey!
