Falcons take flight at Nanda Moodley volleyball cup
This day/night tournament was a fun event for the whole family.
Volleyball enthusiasts turned out in their numbers to support the inaugural Nanda Moodley Memorial Volleyball Cup, in honour the late businessman and philanthropist, Nanda Moodley, at the Marburg Volleyball Complex last Saturday. The tournament proved a success, with 20 teams entering.
The excitement and enthusiasm were noticeable among volleyballers with the courts being jam-packed, as players and supporters enjoyed a day of thrilling action. The two main sections were the premier and social divisions. The popular social section drew a huge crowd, as some of the legends of yesteryear made a return to the sport.

Registered teams set up their braais and gazebos on the grass areas and, with plenty of prizes and great camaraderie, tournament host, Malanie Moodley (widow of late Nanda Moodley), in partnership with the Port Shepstone Volleyball Association, made this day/night tournament a fun event for the whole family. “While we hosted this tournament to remember my late husband, we also wanted to encourage mass participation and to try and get many children back into the sport,” said Mrs Moodley.
The winners and runners-up, and third positioned teams in both the social and premier sections were presented with full volleyball kits and medals by the family of the late Nanda Moodley. The Port Shepstone Volleyball Association and the Moodley family thank all clubs, volleyball players and fans for their excellent support for the tournament.
The winners were as follows. Social section: 1 Legends, 2 Rising Stars, 3 Family VC. Premier-: 1 Falcons, 2 Ywam, 3 City Boyz.
