Road runners from all over the country, as well as abroad, will converge on the city of Pietermaritzburg for the start of the Comrades Marathon this Sunday, June 10.
It’ll finish at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, with a 12 hour time frame to get there.

Thousands of runners taking part, motivated by the colour of the medal as well as the grand occasion and simply the challenge.
Elite runners go for gold and prizemoney. That is, the top 10 runners (men and women) get a gold medal, but there are various others to be obtained on the day.
However, it’s the mass of runners who make the Comrades Marathon what it is.
This year’s comrades is the 93rd edition and popularly known as a ‘Down Run’, with the distance of 90.184 km to be exact.
Ugu Athletics Club will be represented by 20 runners, including six novices.
Eddie Ramaloo reckoned they would do well, thanks to an intensive training programme.
Race veteran Pardon Mathebula gave some wise advice. “At this stage, with just three days to go, there is nothing you can do except to go there and run the race with the intention of finishing and making the club proud.”
