Mug win for Margate CC veteran Ivan Curlewis
The club legend showed age is just a number.
IVAN Curlewis produced another one of those rounds where he made the game look all too easy, winning the monthly mug at Margate Country Club last Saturday on nett 69.
He shot a level par 71 off his two handicap to finish two ahead of Robert Mavundla.
The B division was won by Neil Townsend on nett 68, one ahead of Alan Davies on nett 69.

C division honours went to Thys Bothma on 38 points, three ahead of Allan Halvorsen.
The women’s medal was won on nett 68 by Sandi Johnston, with Lizzie Meyer, Jane Davies and Beryl Williamson all one shot behind.
The women’s comp was rained off last Tuesday.
Wednesday Wobblers’ competition saw Jim Gouws, Otto Mutschler, and Cyril Greensmith win on 93 points.
Runners-up were Dave Morrison, Wimpie Jordaan and Peter Hunter on 89 points.
Last Thursday’s individual Stableford was won on 43 points by Fanie Terblanche, with Robin Shuttleworth next on 38 points.
The popular business day last Friday was won on 99 points by Pierre Malherbe, Dennis Balt, Lou van Niekerk and Johann Eramus.
