Dolphins in town for cricket feast at Port Shepstone Country Club

Former Proteas spinner Pat Symcox will preside over an auction at the evening dinner.

CRICKET fans are in for a treat when the Hollywoodbets Dolphins team visits Port Shepstone this weekend.

The players will battle it out in a T20 format match against the Southern KwaZulu-Natal Cricket Union Invitation XI at PSCC this Saturday (16th) at 12pm.

This match will be preceded by KFC Mini Cricket coaching set to take place at 9am.

This action-packed Saturday will then be followed by an auction dinner presided over by Pat Symcox, a former Proteas and Dolphins batsman and premier spinner.

CEO of KZN Cricket, Heinrich Strydom, said it was an attempt to introduce the Dolphins franchise intensively to other parts of the province.

“We are trying to grow the brand, even in the outskirts of Durban, because at the moment, there is a belief that the Dolphins are a Durban cricket team whereas they ought to be known as a KwaZulu-Natal cricket team merely based in Durban,” Strydom mentioned.

“The Dolphins actually represent the entire province and with this festival we want to make it known that we are for everyone. This initiative will be a push to reach out to all eleven districts across the province over the course of the next few seasons, with the starting point being Port Shepstone and Eston.”

Dolphins players expected to take part include Morné van Wyk, Khaya Zondo, Prenelen Subrayen, Okuhle Cele, Lwandiswa Zuma, Mthokosizi Shezi, SJ Erwee, Darren du Pavillon and Rabian Engelbrecht, joined by coach, Grant Morgan and his assistant, Imraan Khan.
