Fab Four star at Port Shepstone CC’s Restoration Trophy
It was a very festive weekend, that's for sure.
There’s a Ringo in the ‘Fab Four’ which won the Restoration Trophy at Port Shepstone Country Club last weekend.
It certainly wasn’t The Beatles drummer Ringo Starr, rather it was Ryan Ringo, the club vice-chairman and current Southern Natal Nomad of the Year.

While the drummer may have lived in the shadow of the more famous band members John Lennon and Paul McCartney, Ringo the golfer can often be heard before he’s seen and is usually the life of the party.
The gregarious golfer teamed up with Daryl D’Arcy, Grant Peterson and Paul Tedder last weekend.
They’ve been trying to capture this trophy for three years and were pretty pleased to have finally gotten it right.
The tournament was sponsored by Halfway Toyota Shelly Beach and there was a Yaris to be won for the first hole in one on the Sunday.
However, no one was able to ace the tricky par three 17th hole. Maybe next time.
The winners scored 184 points over the two days and in the end needed the countout to go ther way.
Having to settle for second place were Altaaf Bux, Ganes Munsami, Peppy Govender and Sandi Burger, followed one point further behind by Gary Vogt, Gordon Dickson, Terry Kotze and Roy Matkovich.
In regular news, last Wednesday’s competition was won on 42 points by Stuart Betts, by two from Daan Swanepoel.
Smittie Stieger was next on 38 points, followed by Graham Dickson on 37 points.
Roto Tank sponsored the business day last Friday.
It was won by Jaco van der Wal, Piet Fourie, Christo Esterhuizen and Johan Neetling on 94 points.
Runners-up were Jesse Verster, Eddie Ringo, Shaun Nathanson and Dave Higgins on 93 points.
Third spot one point behind went to Koko Zithumane, Peter van der Walt, Barry Oehme and a ‘ghost’.
Nearest the pins were Kevin Murray (5th), Sanjay Singh (8th), Santhos Baskali (14th) and Danie van der Post (17th).
Upcoming: Friday (15th) Dolphins golf day; Saturday (16th) South Coast Hospice/Harcourt golf day.
