Mixed results for Southbroom golf captains

There's never a dull moment in the Tuna Angling day, and it was the same again last Sunday.

It was time for Captain vs Vice-Captain at Southbroom Golf Club last Saturday.

In the women’s section the captain’s team lost 4,5-1,5. so Allyson Thomas had bragging rights over Michelle Davies for the evening.

Best pair were Mari Fielden and Di Dimambro on 50 points, followed by Allyson Thomas and Heleen Hissey on 47 points.

It was quite the opposite in the men’s section, where Gerald FitzGerald’s team trounced Don Osbourn’s team 13-3.

Gerald led the way, scoring 52 points with Errol Amm.

Next best were Bruce Matthew and Det Wichmann on 50 points.

The previous Wednesday’s competition was won by Trish Amm and Janet Humphrey on 43 points, on a countout from Felicity Robertson and Solange Fox.

The men’s competition saw Jason Ackerman and Van Zyl Greyling, who shot 70 off a four handicap, win on 46 points, one ahead of Bob Clark and Errol Amm.

Format was a scramble drive alliance and it was won by Grant Richards, Walter Kuhn, Heinz Engelbrecht and Rowan Schoeman on 117 points.

Runners-up were Jarryd Charlton, Kobus van Wyk, Colin Whitely and Dimitri Courtelis on 115 points.

In third spot on 114 points were Henk Nortje, Henk Nortje Snr, Ettienne du Plessis and Johan Meyer, counting out Craig Jolliffe, Brad Elliott, Johan Neethling and Jaco van der Wal.

Chris Miller won the Chicken Run last Friday on 24 points. Bones Coertzen was next best on 22 points.
