Angus almost shoots age, makes off with cash

Age is but a number, as the Margate CC veteran showed.

THE individual Stableford at Margate Country Club last Thursday was won on 46 points by Angus McLachlan.

He shot an 85 gross, not bad for an 84-year-old. He also cleared a bit of cash from his golf school!

Adriaan Lemmer was second on 43 points.

Nearest the pins were Dave Blain (4th) and John Ford (11th).

Mike Lee won last Saturday’s competition on 42 points, counting out Keith Duncalf.

In third spot was Wonder Nxumalo on 41 points.

Nearest the pins were Alan Davies (2nd) and Ronnie Mtshaka (11th).

The women’s alliance was won on 96 points by Beryl Williamson, Hilary Hendry, Hannetjie Pretorius and Shannon Gottlieb, on a countout from Lesley Erasmus, Maureen Ogilvie, Rene Paton and Una McLachlan.

The yellow ball competition was won by the team that was counted out.

The women’s competition last Tuesday was won on +9 by Jane Davies, by five from Una McLachlan, with Lexley Lewis next on +3.

The Wobblers game saw Peter Hunter, Konnie Konrad and Derek Egerton clean up on 89 points.

Runners-up were Otto Mutschler, Hans Bielhartz and Carl Zurfluh on 86 points.
