Two tennis titles for Renee Purtell at Southbroom Tennis Club

There was a good atmosphere and entries were up on last year.

SOUTHBROOM Tennis Club championships for 2018 have been concluded.

There was some running around of backhands, but not in the ilk of Rafa Nadal at Roland Garros, who smashed it to all corners with ruthless efficiency.

At Southbroom, matches were played in good spirit and there was great spectator support. Entries were well up on previous year.

The mixed doubles was a hotly contested event, with Ron Stirling and Renee Purtell ending up as eventual winners.

Members are reminded about the Interclub Challenge between Uvongo and Southbroom.

This is to be held on Sunday, July 15 with a bring and braai to follow afterwards.

Southbroom members enter now, it’s time to bring the trophy back to the club.
