Paddleboarder Jon Ivins stands up when it matters

Stand up paddling is one of the fastest growing water sports in the world.

JON Ivins won the recent South African Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) Surf Championships in the Legends surfing section, hosted by the SUP Durbs! Club.

He is engaged to be married to Roberta Alessandri, a former Hibiscus Queen.

Keith Colls (Durban) was second, Gary van Rooyen (Cape Town) in third and Dave Maxwell (Cape Town) fourth.

It was the fourth year that SUP Durbs! Club hosted the event.

There are are many different disciplines related to SUP, including surfing, ocean racing, technical racing, rivers (Dusi), downwind racing, yoga, adventure and even fishing.

It is the fastest growing water sport in the world and is very family-orientated as it caters for all ages and skill levels.
