March for justice for Gcilima murder victim

Tholakele Stolo Mboyisa's funeral is on October 17.

The community of Gcilima will hold a peaceful march on October 16 as it escorts the body home of Tholakele Stolo Mboyisa, who was brutally raped, strangled and murdered in the area last week.

Cedric Mboyisa, also from Gcilima, said Tholakele was ever smiling and chatty whenever he bumped into her at family gatherings in the village.

“I invite the community of Gcilima and the South Coast to join us. We will march from Khuzane Road, leading to Thokothe Sportsfield and end at KwaNgeleka bus stop. We will start at 13:00 and walk as a community in need of justice for Tholakele. Yes, the accused has been arrested, and we thank the Margate police for a swift arrest. At his next court appearance, we appeal to the community to support Tholakele and other victims of rape, so that they can find justice,” said Mboyisa.

One of the organisers, Xolani Ntusi, said no political regalia will be allowed. “Those attending should refrain from wearing political party T-shirts. The march will be held under the theme, I am my sister’s keeper; the Gcilima community stands against gender-based violence,” said Ntusi.

Tholakele’s funeral will take place on October 17.
