First ‘fluke’ for Sydney Shingange

SYDNEY Shingange had a hole-in-one on the 11th hole at Margate Country Club last week Saturday.

It was a first ace for the man who also serves as the president of the Southern KwaZulu-Natal Golf Sub-union.

The competition, however, was won on 48 points by Dave Morrison and Carlos Pereira.

Sydney and his partner Sheldon Seymour had to be content with second place on 45 points.

The women’s Nassau competition was won on 46 points by Jane Davies and Lesley Erasmus.

First nine to Lizzie Meyer and Una McLachlan on 25 points; back nine to Jean Page and Anita Scheepers on 24 points.

The women’s Connie Day betterball last Tuesday was won on 47 points by Evelyn Burls and Lynn Meek.

Runners-up were Margaret Taylor and Beryl Williamson on 46 points.

The Wobblers alliance was won by Dolf Willemse, Jan Richter and Carl Zurfluh on 89 points, on a countout from Rob Brien and pivots.

Last Thursday’s competition was won on 40 points by Michael Downs, on a countout from Harold Olkers.
