Round robin a hit at Tweni Tennis Club

Visitors are most welcome to join members for social tennis on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons from about 1.30pm onwards.

THERE was a lovely turnout for the round robin at Umtentweni Tennis Club last week as well as enough court space available for those who just wanted to play social tennis.

Twenty players entered the tournament and played in two sections.

Sectional winners, Tisch Roos and Charmaine from Durban and Kylan Guest and Chantelle Donald had a good match to determine the final outcome, with Tisch and Charmaine emerging victorious.

Visitor, Ian Kempe, also joined in and there was much reminiscing about the days when his father was principal of the junior school in Port Shepstone in the ’60s.

Honorary life member, Peggy ‘Twinkletoes’ Igesund was a welcome spectator and also enjoyed taking a trip down memory lane.

Lynne Rorich is almost ready to make her comeback and has been hitting a bit during the week.

Raj Naganna brought his signature samoosas and chilli bites which went down well along with sarmies from Jean Marx and a Swiss roll from Tisch Roos.

Hard-working treasurer, Isabeau le Roux, who has the unenviable task of trying to make ends meet each month, celebrates her birthday on the 28th and members wish her a great day.

Visitors are most welcome to join members for social tennis on Wednesday and Saturday afternoons from about 1.30pm onwards.

Saturday duty: August 25 – Keith Gatley; September 1 – Chris Connellan.
