The Port Shepstone Country Club played host to the 50 over match and will also provide the venue for the much anticipated Umthunzi Cup, a T20 match between the Dolphins and the visitors from Bloemfontein, on Wednesday.

In Tuesday’s 50 over fixture the Dolphins batted first with the hosts setting the Knights 267 to win the match.

Vaughn van Jaarsveld showed some more encouraging early season form when he notched up 110 of the Dolphins runs.

He was supported by a few others with Cody Chetty scoring 30 and Andile Phehlukwayo chipping in with 40 towards the back-end of the innings.

The visitors made a solid start to their innings and were 60/1 from 13 overs. From that point it was up to the Dolphins to try and restrict the Bloemfontein men.

After the 29th over the Knights were only 144 runs adrift with seven wickets in hand.

The Dolphins did well to strangle the Free State outfit and with just five overs to go they were still needing 55 runs to win with just three wickets in hand.

Prenelan Subrayen’s 3/39 and Lwandiswa Zuma’s 2/23 were the best figures for the Dolphins bowlers and the Knights were bowled out for 233, handing the Durban side a 33 run win.

Signing autographs is all part of the game.

The weeks action will be highlighted by the exciting T20 clash between the two sides on Wednesday.

All those that are in the South Coast region of Port Shepstone and surrounding areas are encouraged to head through to the Port Shepstone Country Club to watch two their local Dolphins stars in action.

The match starts at 2pm with gates opening at 1pm and entrance is free.
